No bike riding or running etc for a while, been doubled up with arthritis, just plain rubbish :-/ but hey just got to get on with it.

Well that’s another week out of the way. Health wise on the mend – fitness wise – out on the bike most nights with the small person :-D

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Well what a bobbings week I had last week – spent most it not being able to walk, which isn’t the best. Went to hospital to see the arthritis specialist who gave me some more blood tests and a new batch of pills…see how it goes. Managing to walk again now, but not too happy about what the future may hold.

On the upside of things – the small person is still loving her climbing and has now joined up on a training program, she’s going to have arms of steel.

How’s everyone after DL – and how cool was the D23 news.

Off to wake the little one up. I’ve changed my working hours so I can take her to school in the mornings now – fingers crossed I’ll be able to get in the company car park (we work in the middle of nowhere) as I’m normally in for around 8:00 because if I can’t it’s a lovely little mile hobble to the nearest one…

What a Sunday!

Apart from waking up at an ungodly hour to head off up to Sheffield for climbing it’s been awesome.

To celebrate the small persons Birthday she got to choose what we all did today – and I must report a fun time has been had by us all. 2 hours climbing, the funsized managed a PB and got to the top of the 14M wall (46 foot in old money).

Then we headed back south to have lunch/dinner at Pizza hut. Everyone managed a few slices eachand we bagged the rest to eat at home later the sat back and watched the ice cream factory sucked dry by all the kids. Our server nearly cried when I pulled my 50% off internet voucher :-)

Watched a movie then 2 Miami Inks and sneaked off out for a ride on my bike. I must moan at this point – as a car driver paying about £5.50 per gallon and £200+ road tax, what the f*ck are they spending the ROAD part of the tax on? I hadn’t really noticed how shit the roads are around here until I got a road bike. The first foot or 2 from the kerb on all the roads are rubbish – sort it out. And secondly, if you ever need it to rain just send me out on my bike – another wet one.

Loving the biking though, even when my ankle isn’t 100% I can still exercise pretty pain free because of my clip-less pedals. If I stick at it I may save up for a proper roadbike next year – then again that may involve lycra and I’m allergic to fitted clothing.

Distance –  10.77KM (6.692 miles)
Time – 36.47
Max  - 45.6KMPH

New Bike, originally uploaded by [rich].

It’s the small persons Birthday next week so we got her an early present and she loves it. We went for a quick spin together and having a bike with gears has helped her on the hills no end. We did a quick 2.5K.

My right ankle/foot is still playing up – going to see the specialist at the hospital next week, toes crossed he can sort me out.

Hope everyone who is running the DisneyLand half has a great race and party after :-D

Still no fun for me!

Come back here Parker!, originally uploaded by [rich].

Well news on the olds bloke front – I’m still not able to train yet. Since Tuesday I’ve been in agony with the old ankle, well the new ankle pain. Seems to be going off now, so fingers crossed I’ll get back on the bike tomorrow.

In other news – the SP is still on her training binge. She did Wii active yesterday and asked me to train her today. She is doing very well. I asked her why she wants to train so hard? Rock climbing. She wants to get super strong – bring it on I say.

The small person is a star.

Got home from work tonight and the small person was waiting to start her training.

We did a few warm up drills in the garden then did:

5 x plank (10 second holds)
10 x crunches (10 second holds)
Tri dips 2 sets of 10
Push ups 2 sets of 10
Shoulder raises with power band 2 sets of 10
Side things (not sure their name) 2 sets of 10
Weight ball triceps x 10
Weight ball front lifts x 10
Squats x 10

Then a quick 1.55K bike ride in the rain to top it all off.

She did awesome to say this is her first workout session.

I’ll get up tomorrow early and put in a ride before work.

…hates me – going to have a day off from the riding today, was up most of the night with pain. I love getting old.

On other news – just read that Disney has purchased Marvel. Will Universal have to say goodbye to Islands of Adventure?

Up early again this morning (I’ll be glad to go back to work for a rest), and after a quick blast up the M1 to sheffield we arrived at the foundry.

Why the foundry? The small person is looking for new and fun sports to try out and get into. So after looking online we settled on rock climbing and looked around for the closest centre.

The foundry is a class indoor climbing centre and the staff were excellent and very helpful. After 2 hours of climbing up and down walls the fun sized person is hooked. Looks like a trip is on the cards back up north next Sunday.

The next sport to be ticked off the list is wake boarding…

Back home a lot later on this evening I got out for a very quick spin around the block and yes you guessed it… IN THE RAIN.

Distance = 3.224 KM (2M)
Month total = 27.599 KM

Now that’s what I call a fixed wheel…

I’m liking this bike riding stuff. No rain this morning just plenty of in your face wind…

My left ankle has come along and said hello the last few days (I blame walking non stop around all of the museums the north east/west has to offer. Fingers crossed it will go away again.

But that said using the old SPD clips I hardly put any strain on it.

Gotta love it though – from a week ago of next to no miles to 8… if only running was this easy.

Distance = 13.6 KM (8.45064)
Time Taken = Can’t be arsed to go to the garage to look
Month total = 24.375 KM

There’s nothing like a early afternoon a ride in the sunny English countryside. But seeing as it pissing down I had to make do with a wet and cold village loop.

Still getting used to riding again and trying to sort my fitness levels out.

Distance = 6.657 KM (4.13646 miles thanks to metric-conversions.org)
Time Taken = 24.16

3 days blogging in a row – wow ;-)

Over the top

Over the top, originally uploaded by [rich].

Due to being pants at running and being an old git that shouldn’t do it anymore, I’ve been stuck for anything to get excited about on the exercise front. Runner Susan, Jog Blog and Rae all seem to be getting their bike on so I thought I’d join in.

It’s taken a week of working in the garage but I’ve resurrected an old Orange mountain bike from the scrap heap and made a cheeky little street bike, an I’m loving it.

Got out of bed early this morning to get a quick bike ride in – quick wasn’t really what I’d call the effort I managed. Seems like sitting on your arse for a couple of months makes you unfit. I managed to put in about 3-4 miles and only forgot my feet were stuck to the pedals once (much to the amusement of the traffic behind me at the lights).

I will dig out my trip computer so I can put some stats up in future fingers crossed I may find my fitness.

Must say it’s good to get out early and get some work in – I’ve already washed the cars and tidied downstairs  and it’s not even 10:30.

I’m hoping to carry on blogging – but you know me…

PS – Don’t faint all the Juenathoners have now got their trophies :-D
